Jenny - Roledex Remix DIY

Hi there! It's Jenny Lor from Just Sweet Love. I'm so glad to be here, especially for Lindsay's first ever blog party!

As of late, I've been obsessed with reusing and repurposing items in my possession. I found an old rolodex in my closet and decided to give it a fun makeover [here and here].

Today, I'm going to teach you how to make your own version of rolodex remix. Hooray!

You can use anything, really. Got a hole punch? Punch some holes and slap on paper! The same could go for paper clips, adhesives, glue dots, etc. You can turn this remix into anything! For this demonstration, we'll be using what I've already been crafting with: a rolodex.

The materials I use for my remixes are paper scraps from other projects. Almost everything I use, I've owned for at least 3+ years; a very good way to start clearing stuff in your stash. Don't pay attention to the washi tape, they're there for decoration.

First, you'll need to trim your paper down to size. My rolodex is approximately 3" x 4"

Next, punch your papers. A girlfriend bought me this rolodex punch [sold at any office supply store]. If you don't have one, use a hole punch, crop-a-dile, or poke holes with a paper clip. Remember, safety first.

Next up is the fun part: layering! I'm visually drawn to bright, bold colors so picking colors that complement one another is important to me while crafting. Aren't these colors yummy?!

Most of my remixes are filled with quotes, emotions, and hallmarks. To even the playing field, I'll add in neutrals where my quotes/pictures will go so I don't overshadow the words in the backdrop. Add some embellishments [in my case, some pretty Love, Elsie chipboard I've been hoarding for years]

Pretty, huh? I hope you had as much fun as I did! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email: jennystarlor [at] gmail [dot] com. Or message me on twitter: @justsweetlove. Craft on, my friends, craft on :]

  4. That is an amazing Idea... I have a rarely used rolodex and I am sure that this would make me use it more often.

  6. This really is a great idea! After I quit my job, back in Dec, I took the boxes I brought home and put them in the garage. Now I just need to get out there and find them so I can get my roledex out!

  7. This is so cute! I love your makeover! I think I am going to attempt this today because I have scrapbook sketches in 3 different notepads, not organized or functional when I need to find one in particular at all. I think I will make my sketches now organized by layout sketch > one photo, two photo, three+ photos> and then card sketches in the back. I need to get busy now! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
