DIY- Pumpkin Seed Flower Ornament- by Perfect Pear

hello everyone! my name is Lauren, from The Perfect Pear! I'm beyond happy to be blogging here at Pixies and Bears!

When i was just a little one i made these ornaments for Christmas! This adorable DIY has definitely stuck with me, it so pretty and I hope you'll like it!

look how pretty is it!

You'll Need: Some unsalted pumpkin seeds, popcorn kernels, scissors, red paint (or any other color), ribbon, paper, hot glue gun and (optional*) white glue and glitter

1: Start by cutting out a circle from paper, this will be about the size of your flower. I like to put another circle in the middle as a guide for my seeds

2: Glue your seeds down, make sure the outer edge, roughly lines up.

3: Keep going around until you get to here (see below.)

4: Get your paint out and pretty it up!

5: Once its dry glue a few kernels smack in the middle!

6: This step is optional, but it really makes it sparkle (literally)! Add some Elmer's glue around the edges.

7: Add your glitter!

8: Glue some ribbon down to the back.

xoxo
Lauren

When you open it up :)

Close up, you can see she lined the edges with washi tape which makes it soooo pretty!

All the colorful pages in different sizes to give it some character :)

Isn't it gorgeous??

I think it took her about 4ish hours to make, but that's with LOTS of breaks in between. Thank you sooo much Mom!! I love the colors and the fabric, you did awesome!!!!

Did anyone else make anything from the Blog Party DIY's?? If you did I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see them!!!

Katie- DIY Silky Flower and GIVEAWAY!!!

Hey everyone! I am Katie from SmileyEyes.

I wanted to share a really easy way to make some cute poppy flowers. I think they are so perfect to wear in your hair, as a brooch, on a necklace, or even as a cute summer ring.

These are super cute and super easy to do. All that you need is a silky fabric (does not have to be real silk, but just something that is shiny and has some stretch to it), a candle, scissors, needle and thread (or hot glue), and some cute buttons. You might also want to buy a headband, hairclip, pin backing, or necklace that you may want to add the flowers to.

Once you have your materials… then cut 5-7 circles of increasing diameter out of the fabric:

Next carefully light your candle and hold the edge of the silky fabric up close to the flame. The edges of the fabric will curl and shrink when the flame gets close. Go slowly, and with one area at a time, because the fabric can melt very quickly!

Continue all the way around the fabric rounds till they look like this:

Then stack the new petals on top of each other:

Once the flower is made, secure the middle of the poppy with your needle and thread or each layer with a hot glue gun. You can add a button, bead, or pearl to the middle to complete:

And ta-da! Pretty flowers all ready to attach to anything!

I hope you enjoy!!! These take no time at all and look so pretty! If you want more Do It Yourselves, you can check out my DIY section on my blog! Thanks Lindsay for letting me be part of your fun blog party!!!

Katja- DIY Placemat

Hi everyone!
I'm Katja, the crafty owner of maedchenmitherz.

One thing I LOVE to share with my readers (besides inspiration and cute crafts) is tutorials! And here on Lindsays great Blog Party, I would like to share a tutorial. Sounds fun? It is!

Most of my readers already know it, - my tutorials are always fun and easy to follow. This one is a cute way to decorate your table and make it even more pretty.

What you will need:

2 different fabrics ( I used linen and a very cute flower-fabric)

Scissors

2 sheets of paper

Sewing machine

You will need the paper to get the right size for your placemat. So lay them on your fabric and cut around it. Make sure you leave 1 - 2 cm sewing line.

Fold and pin the fabric around the paper.

Fold the edges into triangles.

It will look a little bit rough, but this will change through the process xD

Now, cut a strap from the second fabric. It's your choice what size etc. But make sure it's long enough to be sewn to the placemat.

Fold the edges and make sure the size is the same at every part of the strap.

Pin it to the placemat. To make it more pretty, wrap the ends around the end of the placemat.

I think you get the idea of how this is done.

Sew along the placemat.

Then it's time to sew along the decoration :D

And you are DONE!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I seriously can't wait to see all the pretty placemats out there!

Loves,
Katja

Heather- DIY Stylin' Purse Pocket Notebook

If you’re anything like me, your purse is a place where receipts disappear, gift cards seem to disintegrate and little to-do-lists go to die.  My purse is always full of clutter, so I made this cute purse-sized notebook with pockets for loose items and a pad of paper to write my To Do Lists and reminders.  Here’s the six simple steps to make your own purse-sized notebook from items that you should be able to find around the house.
Find a flexible piece of cardboard to act as the cover for your  note pad.  I used a small portion of a Frosted Mini Wheats Box.  Cut into 9 x 6 inch rectangle. Fold in half. *Note: eat cereal before cutting open the box. ;)
Pick a fun fabric to cover your cardboard with.  I used the material from an old skirt that I was planning to donate.  It has a fun sixties pattern! Cut fabric into 6 ½ x 16 inch rectangle.  You can then cover the card board with the material.  Fold down the extra material on the edges to create a closed seam and secure with glue or double sided tape.
Now to create your note pad, and pockets to catch receipts, gift cards, parking tickets whatever!  Cut three sturdy pieces of colored card-stock into the desired pocket size.  (Mine are 2 x 3 ½ inches; perfect fit for a credit card.)  Cut a small half circle out of the top of each and attach them to each other, just slightly below the previous.  Attach on the front panel of your fabric covered cardboard.

On the back panel, we will attach the paper for the notepad.  Find a color you like and make sure it’s the weight of regular copy paper.  Cut your paper into 5 ½ x 3 ½ inch rectangles, and punch two small holes at the top center of all your pages.
Punch two holes (make sure they will line up with your paper) through the back panel of your notebook and thread a small ribbon through the holes and the paper.  Tie in a bow and you are good to go!

One final flourish, should you choose to add it, a cute button closure!  Sew a button on the side of the front panel and punch another small hole at approximately the same spot on the back panel.  You can use a regular pony-tail elastic to function as the closure.  Just cut it and thread it through the hole on the back panel, from the inside to the outside.  Thread the elastic back through to the inside and pull to create a small loop in back.  Check to make sure the loop is long enough to loop over the button on front, but short enough to hold your notebook closed tightly.  Adjust and then tie the loose ends on the elastic in a knot (which you can hide under the paper) and trim excess elastic.  For extra cuteness I added stitches to the bottom!

Presto!  You now have a convenient and homemade notebook to help keep your purse clutter free and cute!   Happy crafting!
XOXO- Heather
